Anurag Kashyap Dealt With ‘Extreme Sickness’ For 2.5 Years; Filmmaker Says, ‘I’m Not Physically, Mentally, Emotionally Healed’
Over the years, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry for unabashedly standing by his films. He never shies away from expressing his opinions on his social media handles. Being one of the most sought-after filmmakers in the Hindi film industry, in March he took to Instagram to slam people and express how he is tired of tired of wasting his time on random people looking for shortcuts. Now, more than a month later, he opened up about the same and share why he has stopped showing support to filmmakers with independent films on their hands.

In a conversation with Humans Of Cinema, Kashyap revealed that he stopped supporting others due to his declining health. He expressed that people are never aware of what state one person is in and that they don’t even ask. The Raman Raghav 2.0 filmmaker revealed that for the past 2.5 years he has been dealing with “extreme sickness, dependency on medicines.” He even went through a phase of depression. He added, “ In a phase like that, you have to prioritise yourself first. So, if I am not physically, mentally, emotionally healed…. If you see my interviews of last years, you will see it is on my face how unwell I was. Even then people come and ask you to read their script.” ALSO READ: OMG! The 51-year-old director went on to share, “I am on so many steroids that I am unable to sleep and on top of that I sometimes drink whiskey too to numb it. I can’t watch good films. I am watching same old films of mine, I play those because I am familiar with them, the sound of it makes me feel like I am watching a film. Those films which don’t require you to use your mind. I just don’t have the mind space to watch a serious film, so I am watching those action films. I am in that stage and frame of mind and in the middle of that people come to me. I told them that time has past now. There was a time when I was doing these things, because nobody else was. Now there are enough people.” ALSO READ: Anurag Kashyap On Animal: It Has Created More Discussion Around Misogyny Than Any Other Film, So It Is Doing Something Good!
